Today J8 looked at the features of an information leaflet.

We used a technique called 'modeling'.

We looked at an example of informative writing and tried to identify all the features we could see.

We annotated these features and then discussed them in class.

Using the features we found, we then designed the layout of our own information pages.

J7 used information pages from books to identify the features of informative writing.

Both classes used the I.C.T. Suite today, to access information for their own informative leaflets about France.

Actually we started our Music topic!






Here we are listening to some music and trying to identify musical patterns.

We listened to STOMPING TUBES and WINDS ON THE MOUNTAIN, both of which contained CYCLIC PATTERNS.
These are patterns which are repeated over and over again.





















We then looked at a cyclic pattern and tried to play it.



















Here are some examples of cyclic music. The clapping ( in the second link) is much harder than it sounds. The performers have to follow a pattern. It is not just random clapping.

Over the next half term we will compose our own cyclic patterns and perform them in front of both classes.

This week we will be looking at the features of an information leaflet.


We will soon be producing our own.

Yesterday we looked at a page of information about France.

Both classes will also have the opportunity to research interesting facts about France on the internet to use in their fact file.

You could also do some research at home.

In maths today we had to multiply by 10, 100 and 1000.

Some children played Maths games on the computer to reinforce their knowledge of place value.

Mr Williams and I were very pleased with the number skills of both classes.
