Today in music we listened to some more CYCLIC patterns

Firstly we listened to 'Bandrangan', a piece of gamelan music from Bali.

We then composed our own cyclic patterns on tuned instruments, while some of us improvised rhythms on the drums.

Then we appraised each others performances.

Today the children were developing their ability to use different levels within a sequence.

They used their NUMBER SKILLSto work out the timing of their groups.

THINKING SKILLS andCOMMUNICATION SKILLS were used to work out and tell each partner what they had to do to be successful.

I.C.T. SKILLS were used to enhance performance with the use of the digital camera to analyse the quality of the actions.

Partners gave each other targets for next week.
Can they achieve them?

As our topic this half term is 'On the Move', we are making Electric Cars in D.T.

Today we did some PRODUCT ANALYSIS.

We explored and investigated some simple products and tried to decide whether the product suited its intention.

We then analysed a selection of toy cars.

We drew the car, decided what it was made from, discussed who it might be made for, looked carefully at its appearance, thought about the cost and decided whether its design suited its intention.

We will soon be designing, making and racing our own cars.

Today we did our first science investigation.
Firstly, we watched a video about forces and the effect they have on everyday life.
Our KEY QUESTION was: How does the amount of paperclips on a spinner affect the time it takes the spinner to fall to the ground?

Our W.A.L.T. was: To communicate clearly by drawing a successful table.

We discussed the features of a fair test.

We did each test twice and timed the fall using stopwatches.

We then averaged our results to make them more reliable.

Here is an example of a level 5 table. Well done Charlotte!
