Respect Week

Last week was national anti-bullying week. To mark the week the school decided to organise it's own respect week. Below is a selection of the different activities that the children have been taking part in. Invited into school were different outside agencies including the riot squad, South Wales Police's dog handling team, the transport police and Cardiff City Football Club and their mascot Bartley. The emphasis for the week was on being a positive role models to other pupils, showing respect to people in our school, families and the wider community, understanding that rules (in and out) of school are there to protect us and should be adhered by, and developing a sense of responsibility for our actions in and outside of school. On Friday all of the pupils wore blue as a sign of their commitment to zero tolerance on bullying and they all signed a pledge on our "Anti-bullying wall". Below are pictures of activities that took place during the week: The police dogs gave the children an understanding of the work that they do in keeping us safe in the community. The children were able to help the transport police with the speed camera on the main road into Pontyclun. Bartley gave the pupils an anti bullying lesson during assembly, and Zak Williams from CCFC spoke to the children about being a good role model as a footballer. The school would like to thank all of the organisations that gave up their time to help the school highlight a very important issue. This weeks Pontyridd Observer has a full article on our activities last week.

A letter by James Henry Trotter (Alias Juliet)

2 Misery road
Hated hill
South England
CF72 HELL

Dear Katie,
I am afraid to tell you but my parents have been eaten by a
Rhino. You see I was golden hearted, on top of the world with a wonderful
House and crystal water on the sand when my parents were alive. Then they went shopping in London centre. Then out of nowhere, a Rhino came.

I was afraid, very afraid .I came home to find my lovely house sold and I was going to be sent away, sent away from my life to a dark dark place, here. I cant explain how unloved, unwanted, terrible and simply heartbroken I feel
Now.

I now live with my uncaring aunts, aunt sponge and aunt spike. They have
Destroyed my life and feed me nothing but fish heads. I am dressed in
Scruffy, horrid and torn clothes. They treat me like a slave, they call me
A useless little rat. My room is as bare as a prison cell, black and cold.

My heart is stone cold, every day I wake up to no breakfast apart from sponge and spike yelling” do this do that”,. What will I waste away to? How long will I
Live for? I just need some one to save me. I feel like a little, tiny ant that has
Been stepped on but has lived I wished I didn’t. I am tangled in a rope but the rope is never ending and I can’t get out. Please help, please.

Yours sincerely,

James Henry Trotter.

SAVE OUR PLANET! Written by Morgan J7

Our world is sadly dying of
Toxic waste being thrown
Away in the wrong manners.
More animals are dying,
More icebergs are melting
And more air-pollution is
Destroying our precious
Ozone layer. This deadly
Issue is caused by us, humans.

It may be that we reduce, reuse
And recycle but we are not doing
The best we can. Landfill is still
Harming the planet and people
Everywhere are still suffering.

Global warming is the life
threatening problem. The more
rain-forests we cut down and
the more litter we drop is just
a shameful way of disgusting
our planet’s heart.

We need to teat our homes with
Respect or our great-great-great
Grandchildren will never experience
The planet.
