Would You Eat It?

The "Would You Eat It" challenge made year 6 look at food in a different way.We tried many foods we liked and didn't like. Some of the food went down really well,(like the octopus!) Some looked horrid but was really nice! We tried things like, Ginger, Plantain Chips, Dragon fruit and even Lychees. This week we will be trying foods from the WW2. The year 6 children will have to get in character to try some of the food this week! And of course they will be dressing up like children in the Second World War to get in the mood. We all hope that the food will be at least a bit nicer!

Here are some of the children deciding who's going to go first!

WW2
In February 2009 Y6 children turned into WW2 children. We all
dressed up in old fashioned clothes and our teachers were acting like WW2 teachers. We tried all different food that was rationed in WW2.
We tried Spam, Marmite, Pork Dripping, Ox Tongue and Brawn (Sheep's Head). Then we had Lemon Curd and Apples with Condensed Milk.

Some children even tried the Cod Liver Oil!!

It was a fun afternoon and a great way of learning what it was like for children during WW2.
