Haiti Earthquake Appeal!

Following the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti last week Pontyclun Primary School decided to hold a fundraising event for the victims. Year 6 organized the whole event and set up stalls to raise money. There were a large variety of stalls which pupils from Year 2 to Year 5 were invited to visit.
A huge amount of money was raised. We will let you know the total on Monday. Thank you to all who contributed!

Snow Day Videos

The original Snow Day video

The second Snow Day video
Oh no, not more snow! Still, there were advantages.....another day on the slopes, for example!

Sledging was great fun, as were snowball fights! I will get my revenge boys...believe me!!!!

It was very tempting to leave him there!

Even the dogs had good fun.

Some people ended the day with a nice hot meal in The Ivor. A great idea. I'll see how many of you I can catch round and about tomorrow!

If we have snow over the next few days I hope you enjoy yourselves sledging etc. Remember that I will be around the village taking photos!
Please take the time, however, to have a quick look at the MACBETH websites that I have posted.
We will soon be writing a newspaper article from the point of view of a 'journalist' who has arrived at Glamis Castle the morning after the murder of King Duncan.
Here are two websites that may help you with the writing of your article.

This week we have looked at sets of data and answered questions about RANGE, MODE, MEAN and MEDIAN.
Here are some websites to help you.
You might need to use a calculator.

Here are some more pictures of Year 6 children I caught enjoying themselves today, rather than exploring my Macbeth websites!

You can't escape, the school camera is attached to my hand!

No school again today, so some of us were having fun in the snow!

Kierryn, Rhys and Ben had a wonderful time and even gave me a go on their sled.

I'm glad there isn't a picture of me with my head in a hedge and only one shoe on!
I'm only sorry I didn't get a video clip of Kierryn's mum and Rhys's mum flying down the slope like it was the Cresta Run.

You really got up some speed on that sled boys!

I know you must be missing language and maths lessons, but don't worry, this pesky snow won't last for long!

I hope the rest of you have had a good time over the last few days. Make the most of it, these 'snow days' don't happen very often.
If you have any photos of yourselves in the snow, give them to me on a memory stick and I will put them on the blog for us all to enjoy. (Alex, I think I still have your memory stick, sorry!)

Over the next two weeks (provided it doesn't snow!), we will be studying Macbeth by William Shakespeare. Today we began by looking at the first few scenes and analysing the characters we met. Check out the website above for an extract of a BBC film about Macbeth.
