This afternoon we learned about Venetian masks and their history.

Many masks were used for disguise during Carnevale.....a feast held during February.

This festival still takes place today when Venetians and tourists all dress up in fantastic masks and costumes.

Some masks, like the one on the right, were worn by plague doctors, who filled their long noses with sweet smelling herbs to try to ward off the plague.

We then designed and made our own masks.

This afternoon I felt I was back in St Mark's Square........almost!
