Year 6 had the most amazing afternoon thanks to Mrs Barter and Mr Gary Clarke.

Mrs Barter arranged for Mr Clarke to give us a cooking demonstration today.

Mr Clarke is the head chef in Jamie Oliver's restaurant in Cardiff.

He brought us lots of new and interesting fruit and vegetables to try.

He told us how he cooks for over 7000 people a week.

He has 35 other chefs working for him.

We were all allowed to try the produce he brought.

Celeriac.

Black potatoes.

Curly Kale and Cavello Nero.

Mouli (similar to radish).

Black carrots (apparently these are the original carrot....orange carrots are dyed and contain half as many nutrients as black carrots).

We tried 6 different kinds of lettuce....this one was called Frisse, for obvious reasons.

Mr Williams tried a Quimp!

A Tamarillo (a cross between an orange and a tomato).

'What does Dragon Fruit taste like?'

Mr Clarke then made us a Leaf Salad with a dressing of Balsamic vinegar, olive oil and lemon juice.

Then we tried a Root Vegetable Salad.

Finally he made us a Berry Smoothie and a Banana, Melon and Pineapple Smoothie.

I really enjoyed this afternoon and would like to thank Mrs Barter once again for organizing it, and Mr Clarke for providing such a fantastic experience for the children.
