P.E. Basketball

In P.E this afternoon we continued with basketball skills.

We practised dribbling, then raced in relays before having a real game.

Helen Keller

This afternoon in P.S.E. Mrs Barter told us about Helen Keller.

Helen Keller became deaf and blind when she was about 18 months old, but learned to speak through the help of an inspirational teacher called Anne Sullivan.

This afternoon we learned how to 'sign'.

Learn more about Helen Keller here.

Trailers

Today we practised our trailers for The Hunckback of Notre Dame.

They will be filmed tomorrow!

Strange goings on in the yard!

This afternoon Mr Williams took some of the Y6 boys to a rugby festival.

The remainder of year 6 continued writing their trailers.

Each group was given the challenge of writing and producing either a 'Disney' trailer or one echoing the 1939 black and white classic.

Which ever trailer they were given, their own piece of work has to show some of the features of that genre.

They have a time limit of 2mins.

They have to choose pivotal plot moments to include in their trailer.

Some groups finished their plans and began to practice.

Goodness knows what the neighbours thought about the goings on in the yard this afternoon!

We will refine and practice our trailers tomorrow when the rugby boys return!

Literacy: Film Trailers

In Literacy today J7 and J8 watched the trailers of Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame and the 1939 Hunchback.

While J7 compared and contrasted the features of each clip, J8 began to write their own trailers.

As it was such a nice day (and the activity was quite noisy), we took our tables into the yard to work.

Maths: Common Multiples

In Maths today we began to look at common multiples.

First we played 'Show Me', to make sure the class understood what common multiples were.

Then the Birthday boy and girl played a multiplication game on the interactive white board.

We then worked on some multiple problems in our books.
