Today we tried some food commonly eaten during World War Two.

John the Butcher got up early this morning to stuff and cook an ox heart for us!

We also tried tongue,

jellied veal,

Spam,

brawn,

faggots, toast with beef dripping and toast with malt extract,

apples with condensed milk........and finally............

cod liver oil!!!!!!!!!

Some things went down (and stayed down) better than others!

Today was a day of visits. After play we were visited by the British Legion.

They came to thank us for our donations to the Poppy Appeal.

As an extra treat they brought their standard bearer and the regimental goat!

The goat left us a little gift!

Thank you Miss Harwood for cleaning it up....I was far too busy with the camera (a good excuse)!

Today we were visited by the R.C.T. Wind Ensemble. They taught us about the history and variety of wind instruments that are available to pupils in Pontyclun.

Some children were picked to play the bottles (not an instrument taught!).

While some children played the straws!

Thanks very much to the Music Service for providing this experience.

This week we have been working hard to prepare for our school Eisteddfod.

Everyone has been given the opportunity to perform an English poem, a Welsh poem a song and an instrumental piece.

The competitors were judged by their house captains and the winners will perform in our School Eisteddfod on March the 1st.

Everyone who took part has gained points for their 'houses' which will go towards the final score in the Eisteddfod.
Well done Y6.
