Group Investigations in Science

Today in SCIENCE we continued with our theme of 'On The Move,' by successfully completing group investigations.

Our KEY QUESTION was, 'Does the surface at the bottom of a ramp affect the distance a car travels?'

We were learning to COMMUNICATE clearly through speech, writing, diagrams, tables and bar charts.

Using our THINKING SKILLS, each group formulated our own SUCCESS CRITERIA.
We used NUMBER skills to decide upon and successfully use units of measurement.

Each group completed the full investigation and then presented their investigation on a large piece of card.

Here you can see an example. This group found out that their car travelled furthest on the parquet flooring. They said in their conclusion that this was because the shiny floor provided the least friction.
We used many skills today. To extend these, one of our groups suggested that we could enhance our graphs by using a computer package.
