Today was our last P.E. lesson of the half term.

We consolidated the skills that we have learned this half term by playing a series of games on the yard.

We played rugby, football, hockey and basketball.

Ultimate Final

J7 Final

J8 Final

Today we had our last Gym lesson.

We performed our routines for each other and evaluated them.

Forget Lewis Hamilton and the Grand Prix.....it was far more exciting in Pontyclun Primary School Hall this morning.

The crowds gathered, some had even made banners to support their cars.

J8 went first.

8 out of 9 cars actually worked and were able to compete.

Well done to everyone, especially our 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed cars, who all went on to the final.

Next up were J7 .

7 out of their 9 cars worked.

Here are the top three teams for J7.

The ultimate race off was between the top 3 teams from each class.

Leon, Liam, Lloyd and Daniel from J7 were our final winners.

Millie, Lucy, Nancy and Molly from J7 came second.

In third place were Niall, Spencer and Harry from J8.
Look at the Blog later for videos of the three races.

Today we completed our design specifications for our electric cars.

When we had decided on our design, we decided how many resources (wood, wheels etc) we needed.

We had to 'cost' our car and keep a running total of how much we spent on our other resources.

Each piece of wood was £1. Everything else was 50p

We then began making our cars. It was much harder than we thought it would be.

We used bench blocks and junior hacksaws to saw our wood.

We had to measure very carefully.

Once we had cut out the frames of our cars we had to use the glue gun to stick them together. We then tested them to see whether they would work. Some of us had to rethink our designs.
We will have our race off tomorrow!

Later this afternoon we tested our boats.

Each group was called up in turn to put their boat on the water.
