In English today we learned to use 'ARGUMENT DEVICES', to improve our writing.

An argument device is a sentence starter which can improve an argument, for example;

There is no doubt that........
Scientists claim.............
Consequently.........
It can be argued that.......
In addition to.......

We pulled random devices out of an envelope and had to write sentences using our device on our show me boards.

We then discussed whether we had used the devices properly.

Our next step was to recall the connectives that we used yesterday. We took turns to write these on the white board.

Our final task was to write as many SUPER SENTENCES as we could, using argument devices and connectives, on post it notes.

Each group then stuck their sentences on a big sheet of white paper.

These will provide each group with a bank of super sentences which the children will be able to use in their final challenge when they write a balanced argument about Euro Disney.
