Today we composed our own Gamelan music.

Two people in each group were given tuned percussion. They had to compose a cyclic pattern on their white boards.

Two members of the group were given untuned percussion with which they had to keep a steady beat.

The last two members were given untuned percussion on which they had to improvise.

Each group was given time to practice their pieces.

They had to think about the structure of their Gamelan and try to include dynamics.

Each group then played their compositions to the class.
